“Special Delivery” & Why I Have a Flower Farm
At Acres Abloom Flower Farm, my motivation for growing and selling fresh, locally grown flowers isn't about convincing those who don’t appreciate cut flowers. Instead, it’s about celebrating and connecting with the many people who do—those who find joy, meaning, and beauty in a hand-tied bouquet of specialty cut flowers.
Like many flower farmers, I’ve heard my fair share of dismissive comments at markets or pop-ups: “They’re just going to die anyway” or “They belong in a garden.” At first, those words stung. But over time, I’ve developed compassion for folks who may not yet understand the emotional and healing power of fresh flowers. I’ve seen firsthand how a simple bouquet can brighten a home, comfort a grieving heart, or turn an ordinary day into something worth remembering. So I keep growing, harvesting, and arranging for the people who get it—those who love local flowers and the joy they bring.
A Memorable Local Flower Delivery
Last week, I had a reminder of exactly why I do this work. A gentleman contacted me in search of a flower delivery in Dickson, Tennessee. He had already tried several local florists but couldn’t find anyone able to deliver that day. I explained that I typically deliver on Fridays and Saturdays and that I cut flowers to order with a 48-hour turnaround to ensure peak freshness and hydration. But when he shared that the recipient had been having a really hard week, I knew I needed to make it happen.
I rushed home to the farm and gathered a selection of vibrant, seasonal flowers—fresh from the field and full of color and texture. I created a garden-style bouquet using specialty blooms grown right here on our chemical-free farm. After packaging it carefully, I set off to deliver the flowers myself (I always prefer to hand-deliver flowers—it adds a personal touch that means so much).
When I arrived, I texted the recipient but didn’t get a response. A large dog barked as I pulled in, and soon a woman emerged from the backyard, garden gloves on. When she saw the bouquet in my hands, her eyes filled with tears.
She was surprised and deeply touched. We stood in her yard talking about my flower farm, and how rare it is to find local flower delivery from someone who grows the blooms themselves. When I mentioned that I don’t usually deliver during the week, she gave me a warm hug and said, “This has made my whole week. I can’t stop looking at them—they’re stunning.”
She was right—it was a Tuesday. And after a long 12-hour day on the farm, arranging and delivering those flowers might have seemed like too much. But as I drove away, I felt nothing but gratitude.
Why I Choose Local Flowers Every Time
That moment reminded me that flower farming is more than soil and stems—it’s about the connections we create. Whether I’m selling at local markets in Dickson. Belle Meade, & Fairview, Tennessee, or offering direct-to-door flower delivery in White Bluff, Charlotte, or Kingston Springs, my mission is simple: to share the joy of seasonal, chemical-free blooms grown with love.
At Acres Abloom, every bouquet has a story. From the moment the first seed is planted to the moment a customer receives their fresh cut flowers, it’s a journey of intention, care, and beauty.
